Career and Tech Programs

On Thursday, January 31st you have the opportunity to visit 1 of 13 different Career and Technical Education programs offered throughout Midland County. During these visits you will see what the day to day activities are, learn more about career specific skills and understand how these classes count towards your high school graduation requirements and post-secondary credits. Sign up in the counseling office!

 

Study Session

Grab your notes and your books and bring your friends to our teens only cram session at the library.

When: Sunday, January 13 from 5:30-8pm

Where: Grace A. Dow Library Auditorium

Bring your own computer, we will provide snacks!

Poetry

Calling all performance poets -- Poetry Out Loud 2019 is here. If you want to participate in the Michigan Humanities poetry appreciation program  - you must contact Ms. Mo by Friday, January 11, 2019. This event involves memorizing and presenting a poem from a collection selected by the Poetry Out Loud Organization. This is not a performance of one's original work. Please contact Ms. Mo with any questions.

IB

Attention all IB Diploma candidates: the IB Club will be having a voluntary meeting this Friday in the media center after 7th hour. We will be distributing any remaining IB shirts and will be answering any questions you have about starting TOK.

GSA

Will be hosting a study session for exams this week in Mr. Chambers room this Thursday. Everyone can come join us for a study session even if you're not in the cub. So come and Study while relaxing with us before exams start in a stress free zone!

Have you got Talent?

Can you or someone you know juggle? How about solve a rubix cube? Sing, dance, or act too? If you answered yes to any of those questions that you should audition for the first ever Dow High´s got talent show. Auditions will be held on January 30-31st from 2:30-5:00 in the little theater. If you have any questions please contact Rihana Syed and Maya Al-Ahmad.¨

Notes of appreciation

Teachers, students want to show your appreciation towards a friend?  Sending a letter is a perfect way! Come on down to the table in front of the lunchroom this Friday, January 11  to write a meaningful message to a great friend.

Hey Chargers!

Exams are just around the corner, but romaine calm!  On Monday January 14 we invite you to leaf behind the stress of exams and join this kale to action. Lettuce club will have it's one and only annual meeting after 7th hour in Señora Bonotto’s room, room 367. Bring your own head of lettuce and anything else you may want (like salad dressing). Be the fastest to eat the entire thing and you become the head of lettuce club! Bring your friends to cheer you on. Lettuce meet!  

Gaming Club

Do you need to relieve some pre exams stress? Join the Dow High Gaming Club today for some video game stress-release exercises. We will be meeting in the Elearning lab after 7th hour, 3:30pm. Please contact Mr. Chase, Mrs. Nelson, or Dana Winslow for more information.

Hockey

 

The Charger hockey team defeated Lapeer last night by a score of 12-0.

Freshmen Ryan Stadelmaier and Caden Chritz each scored their first goal as a Dow High Charger.  Brandon Kovacevich earned the shutout in net.

The Chargers' next game is this Friday versus highly ranked Woodhaven.

 

Bowling

 

Varsity boys lost to Grand Blanc Bobcats.  High scores were Marc Tipler 200 and Bruce Matthews 154.

 

Varsity Girls won against Grand Blanc Bobcats winning both of their Baker games.  Allison Leslie won both of her Peterson games with games of 133 & 147, Samantha Klein won hers with a 113, Breanna Prince with a 159 and Rebecca White with a 184 she also had a 157.

 

Good Luck Charger Jv girls basketball playing against Bay City Western @ home today and boys Freshman and Jv playing away at BCW.
